Mouse Trap 1997

This was my first drawing assignment in college. Our teacher, Robbie Conal --> robbieconal.com  gave each of us a mouse trap and had us bring a stuffed animal from home. He wanted us to actively think about the juxtipositioning of text and images to evoke thinking and ideas out of both artists and viewers. Bring 2+ different things together to create a third deeper meaning conveyed by artist and the brain activity of the viewer. Open ended answers were welcomed.

He also pushed us to draw things in front of us as photo-realisitcally as possible. He had us sketch and shade in every detail carefully with a circular motion with our fingers. That technique helped me to capture the fine texture of the fur on the plush toy. Hard and soft. Dangerous and safe. Opposites.
