Crows with Coke

Life is tough in the city... even for the clever crows. They've succumbed to the human vice of caffeine and high fructose corn syrup.

Today, I was walking home from the bus stop after work. I saw one on the sidewalk up ahead. It was drinking off the pavement and sloshing and shaking the Coke can with its beak to get more of the fluids out. Other crows gathered to get some. The crows know I'm harmless but cautious all the same... as I approached they just backed up onto the short wall next to the can. I took a few shots from my camera phone but its not the best for wildlife documentaries. I just stood there watching them watching me. They didn't want to leave that can. As soon as I moved on a few steps, they hopped off and went after that can again. Coke junkies.

I love birds. Crows are a particular favorite because I see them everyday. I admire the way they move around, the way they hop as they land on grass or as they take off... the waddle. They have so much personality.

Took oh... 4 hours. Sketch, ink, scan... cleanup and color.
