The Blues... utter joy while expressing utter pain. Was watching John Mayer's live recording"Covered in Rain" [link] over and over(again) as visual reference and to keep my motivational juices going. Wait for the solo in the middle... when it looks like him and the guitar are crying together...

This took about 6 hours to work out. Was interrupted by an hour long blackout at my apartment building. Good thing I saved everything just before it hit. Photo reference also: [link]

Listen to Mayer's cover of Tom Petty's Free Fallin' here [link] it is way better than the original. This also feels right for this painting.

I have an acoustic guitar... I been practicing on my own since taking a basic intro class many many years ago. My music reading could be a whole lot better... moving up the neck and stuff is a struggle without relying on tabs. Its hard to get better with so many other things to do!

I'd like to hear your stuff for sure!

It is hard for me as well, especially with an acoustic as the higher action makes playing further down the neck harder.

And I can only just play, I can do songs with chords in it but tab songs still throw me a little.

Blues patterns too.. I have teaching books that talk about basic riffs. I haven't dug into those.... but its fun to play out the sounds on the piano.

Learning from books is ok although they don't acomidate for peoples individual abilities and I didn't really start learning until I bought a Play Pink Floyd DVD and had lessons at the local school.

But I understand that it is hard to find time to have lessons and if you learn anything from your book then I am really happy for you.
